Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
