Manchester United Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, has been a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. This signing is viewed as a marquee coup for the WSL side.
Departure from Bayern was expected since she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the club's supporters following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading strikers. Per reports, the formalities for the transfer have now been completed.
Reliable Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major boost to United’s forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- For seven straight seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

In the transfer market, the winter break has brought further business:
- The signing of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.
On the midfielder's new deal, a club official stated: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the NWSL, added: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
