Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside actor Finn, who featured in popular TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist died at home in LA on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.

"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a announcement.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote online.

Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his family.
