In excess of 36,000 people have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan territory eastern part of Darfur beginning Saturday, as stated by the UN's immigration body.

The key central region connecting the country's Darfur areas and the Khartoum-Riverine area has in recent weeks become the latest battleground in the 24-month civil conflict between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group.

Significant Exodus Numbers

An approximated 36,825 people escaped five areas in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, per data from the International Organization for Migration.

The people, most on foot, headed to Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently housing in excess of 652,000 displaced people.

Escalated Military Presence

Citizens of North Kordofan on Monday reported a substantial rise in both RSF and army concentration across towns and villages throughout the state.

Both forces are vying for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a key logistics and command hub that connects Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently shared video declaration.

Area Residents Detail Safety Fears

A local inhabitant of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the quantity of RSF vehicles had increased considerably since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, fearing fighting," the resident explained.

Another resident, who requested anonymity for safety concerns, also indicated that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the last fourteen days.

World Warnings and Requests

A senior UN official raised the alarm last week about "widespread abuses" and "ethnically motivated reprisals" by RSF in Bara.

The official warned of patterns echoing those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The church leader on Sunday appealed for an prompt truce and the creation of aid passageways in Sudan, declaring that attacks on civilians and obstacles to humanitarian aid "are producing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's official envoy to Egypt on Sunday charged RSF of perpetrating war crimes in El Fasher and announced that the Sudanese government would not engage with the paramilitary group.

The diplomat further urged the global community to classify the group as a terrorist organisation.
